Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after. ~Henry David Thoreau
If there were a top 10 greatest fishing quotes list you would most certainly find Thoreau's near the top. In my younger years I knew what it meant. As I grow older I find I am increasingly unsure of it's meaning. Still, my wonder of the sport broadens with depth and scope each day as I come to experience over time my great and cyclical yearning to angle, to pursue fish, upon water, with rod&reel. This great paradox of "knowing" less as I experience more leads to pure wonder. To wonder about the origin or matter of this unseen connection. There is most certainly a connection between my mind/body and angling. It is so palatable I can taste it sometimes. Like the connection of a familiar relation. What is it I am after without knowing?
